Environet is pleased to introduce you to Xtract™, the perfect on site remediation solution for the rapid, reliable and guaranteed eradication of your Japanese Knotweed problem.

Xtract™ is environmentally sound, herbicide free, and involves no haulage or disposal of infested soil to landfill. Its less expensive than other alternatives, and can be supported by guarantees of up to 20 years.

Xtract™ has been developed by Environet for applications where rapid and reliable eradication of Japanese Knotweed is required, such as on development sites. Its suited to infestations large or small – as long as the infested soil can be excavated (and does not contain substances hazardous to health), it can be processed by Xtract™.

Xtract™ involves the excavation, segregation, and removal of ALL viable Japanese Knotweed rhizome in the soil – literally removing the root of the problem. No rhizome, no re-growth!

Xtract™ is an on-site remediation method, eligible for Land Remediation Tax Relief. For more information on claiming tax relief please call us.

An environmentally sound solution, Xtract™ reduces waste volumes by approx 98%, massively reducing financial and environmental costs relating to haulage and disposal to landfill. No environmentally harmful herbicides are applied, and the processed soils can be re-used on site without any further treatment.

Xtract™ uses unique patent pending technology developed by Environet. The Xtract™ machine is mounted on a road trailer, and is towed to site by Land Rover Defender. Its relatively small size allows it to fit in all but the very smallest development site.

The process involves the physical excavation of all infested soils, typically using a 360° tracked excavator, capable of digging to at least 2m deep. The excavation work is supervised by one of our experts to ensure all soil containing viable rhizome, but not more than is necessary, is excavated.

The excavated infested soils are loaded by the excavator into the Xtract™ machine. The Xtract™ machine separates the Japanese Knotweed rhizome from the soil using vibration technology.

Clean processed soils are then immediately ready for re-use on site. The clean processed soils typically fall into two categories. The fines which are best used as topsoil and the oversize best used as backfill.

The extracted Japanese Knotweed rhizome is temporarily stored on site prior to being consigned off site in accordance with Environmental Protection Act 1990 requirements. Rhizome is either taken to an EfW (Energy from Waste) Plant or consigned to landfill depending upon the site location and quantity of rhizome.

Treatment takes a matter of days/weeks depending upon the quantity of material being processed. We typically have a one month mobilization period from receipt of written instructions. In urgent situations we may be able to reduce this subject to our other commitments.
